Looking to bring a cost effective wind technology to the marketplace, Altaeros Energies is developing an Airborne Wind Turbine (AWT) that will redefine renewable energy and eliminate the need for compromise between cost and sustainability by producing clean power at a cost that is competitive with non-renewable resources.
Using a helium-filled ring-wing to provide buoyancy, passive directional stability and flow augmentation, the Altaeros AWT is uniquely capable of safely and efficiently harnessing the immense, untapped potential of high-altitude winds at utility scale. A stronger wind resource and lower costs per turbine will allow Altaeros to reduce the levelized cost of offshore wind energy by 60 percent.
