Bizzy, which we covered previously when they first launched, will be releasing their free Android app tomorrow to enable users to get personalized business recommendations (based on location) directly on their mobile device. Bizzy’s service is really cool, so if you haven’t heard about them yet, check it out: if you’re looking for new restaurants, bakeries, bars, clothing boutiques, and cultural/entertainment venues (like museums, parks, and clubs), Bizzy’s got your back.
To figure out what you currently like, you’ll answer a set of 10 questions to get you thinking about your favorite places. Then their algorithm gets to work and your answers are matched up with people in your area who have similar tastes. Voila! You get recommendations for other places to try. Very helpful, especially if you are new to a city.
Because Bizzy is data-driven, the more people who use Bizzy, the better: the more data, the more answers, and the better the recommendations. If you live in an area without a lot of Bizzy users, your recommendations might be lacking. In a chat with Bizzy’s VP of Marketing, Ryan Kuder, I asked if business travelers could use this in the cities they visit (which I think would be extremely helpful). No more relying on random recommendations from concierges, cab drivers, or business colleagues you barely know. Ryan said that’s not available yet, but the feature is coming, so stay tuned.
Update: The Android app is available for free download via the Android Market or Bizzy.
