Look Out iPad, The BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet Is Coming

Recently showcased at the Consumer Electronic Show, the BlackBerry PlayBook is set to enter the tablet market…on a yet-to-be-announced date with a yet-to-be-announced price. The PlayBook is super lightweight and very thin as it weighs less than a pound and is as thin as a CD jewel case. The device can really, truly multi-task. What helps PlayBook stand apart is its ability to truly multi-task and run multiple applications or programs simultaneously. A lot of other tablets don’t really multi-task, they just switch apps – one gets paused while you jump to another.  The PlayBook allows you to work on multiple screens and run multiple programs simultaneously.

You can use PlayBook to create and edit documents, a basic feature that is not available on every tablet. You don’t get a mobile version of the web, you get the real web with their browser. Aside from supporting BlackBerry apps, the Playbook will also support Android apps as well which should entice anyone that is rocking the Google Android platform.

BlackBerry notifications are linked to your smartphone. If you have a BlackBerry smartphone, you’ll get the same email, calendar, and to-do reminders on your PlayBook. Just don’t try to hook your PlayBook to your belt like your Blackberry smartphone, it may look a little ridiculous.
