Bootstrap Maryland is coming very soon and there are still a few tickets available. If you are in the DC area and looking to start and run your own business you should definitely check it out. Here are the details:

When: Thursday, October 29, 2009 from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM (ET)

Where: Pillsbury Law, 2300 N St NW, Washington, DC 20037

Price: $20 for businesses / $5 for students (Tasty hors d’oeuvres and non-alcoholic drinks are included with your ticket.)

At the event be prepared to learn what you really need in terms of funding or financing…and also how to structure your business so that, should you change your mind, you’ll still have a business. Panelists include:

  • Jay Virdy was a co-founder and CEO of Summize, a groundbreaking, realtime search engine acquired by Twitter in 2008. His first company, LocalEyes, was a local search engine acquired by AOL in 2000.  A third startup is in the works.
  • Paul Singh is Founder of Philtro, a real-time relevancy search for Twitter. He has spent the last several years commuting between DC and Silicon Valley, where he served as a Director for PBWiki (now PBWorks).
  • John Burke is a Partner at True Ventures, a venture capital firm based out of Silicon Valley with an office in Northern Virginia. Some of True’s investments include Automattic, KISSmetrics, and Meebo.
  • Matt Swartz is a Partner at Pillsbury Law with focus on M&A and venture capital. He has represented a diversity of technology companies from Microsoft to Voxant and has experience both in Washington and Silicon Valley.
