BucketFeet: Artist-Designed Kicks That Give Back

October 15, 2011

BucketFeet

For a while now, new companies have been cropping up with a mission to do some good while generating profits. It’s a great marketing tactic as well, since so many of us enjoy giving a little bit back when we can. BucketFeet is a Chicago-based startup selling artist-illustrated shoes and raising money for three children’s charities at the same time.

BucketFeet was founded by Aaron Firestein and Raaja Namani while they were both volunteering in Buenos Aires. Firestein was wearing sneakers he had drawn on, and Nemani asked him to create a pair of his own. The two combined their talents and formed a company that would celebrate artistic expression while helping to support MAGIC, Love.Futbol, and Children Mending Hearts.

BucketFeet features original, screen-printed shoes sold in limited-edition runs. Many of their emerging artists come from backgrounds where they have worked without pay to get started in the industry. At BucketFeet, they’re offered a flat fee for contributing shoe designs, plus royalties on sales. Artists from all over the world have begun submitting designs to get involved in this creative and philanthropic movement.

If you’re an artist who would like to contribute, send BucketFeet an email with a link to your portfolio. And if you’re just looking for some cool kicks and a good cause, check out BucketFeet at their website.
