Catalog Shopping Goes Green and Interactive with Google Catalogs

I love love love sitting down on the couch with a glass of wine in one hand and a stack of catalogs next to me and just flipping through them for ideas and inspiration. Google has decided to make it a more engaging, social and creative endeavor – because heaven forbid something not be social media-related anymore – and launched Google Catalogs.
This free app for tablets lets you browse catalogs and interact with them through “new layers of rich-media content.” That means you can tag and buy stuff, view photos and videos, create and email collages of favorite pages and products, and search for products across catalogs to find what you want.
When a new catalog issue is released, you can sign up to get an alert. Check out this list of catalogs, which is just a sampling: Anthropologie, Bare Escentuals, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale’s, Crate and Barrel, L.L. Bean, Lands’ End, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Pottery Barn, Saks Fifth Avenue, Sephora, Sundance Catalog, Tea Collection, Urban Outfitters and Williams-Sonoma.
This not only really cool, but it’s green as well (sorry, USPS). As much as I love the tactile feel of holding a catalog, I would totally use this. You can download the app on your iPad from their App Store (it’s coming soon for Android tablets).
If you want your company’s catalog included, fill out this form.
