Chimp Flix: A Win-Win for Movie Theaters and Moviegoers

November 13, 2011

Chimp Flix

Philadelphia-based startup Chimp Flix is doing a service to movie theater owners and moviegoers alike, helping movie theaters fill their empty seats and offering discounted tickets to consumers.

On average, movie theaters only fill 25-30% of their seats per week. Come showtime, every empty seat represents lost potential revenue – until now. Chimp Flix allows theaters to give target, time-sensitive discounts to specific consumer groups through Facebook Connect.

How is Chimp Flix is different from daily deal platforms like Groupon or Livingsocial?

“We differentiate from them by focusing specifically on the movie industry, by offering deals only to specific people based on their demographics, by offering additional analytics, and by charging a smaller fee,” says CEO and co-founder Casey Rosengren.

Rosengren, currently an undergraduate business student at the University of Pennsylvania, founded Chimp Flix with Tim Walsh this past September. The team met at Startup Weekend Delaware, and ended up coming in first place.

If you’re a movie enthusiast and want to save money on movie tickets, you can sign up for Chimp Flix here. The startup was just featured at our Tech Cocktail DC mixer last night, so make sure you check them out.
