Oh, how we love our virtual worlds. But the simple browser-based virtual world graphics have never caught up with gaming consoles or even the 3D worlds that require some type of download and installation, like Second Life.
Cloudmach wants to change all that. By rendering 3D graphics on a server and transferring them into the web browser as AJAX, their technology will allow for speed, integration with popular social networks and most importantly, rich 3D graphics via a browser. According to Cloudmach, users of their technology will be able to build rich 3D games, stores and showrooms that can be integrated into Facebook and other networks and they’ll work on any device with a browser. HTML and JavaScript are sufficient to run Cloudmach because all of the rendering is done in the cloud.
This Cloudmach video gives an overview of what they are currently developing.
Cloudmach is still behind closed doors but you can see them demo as a showcased startup at TECH cocktail Chicago 13 on Thursday, May 13th, 2010 at John Barleycorn in Wrigleyville.
