Control Office Space Costs with Roomtag

Here in DC, Class A office space is pretty expensive—one full floor in a building can cost around $1.5 million/year to lease. A vacant room costs $15,000/year, and “stealth vacancies”—executive offices occupied by junior staff or file storage that should be in the basement—are a rampant problem.

The facilities department, meanwhile, often works without software, juggling Excel spreadsheet and paper files while trying to keep track of who sits where, what costs should be allocated, and who has checked out which LCD projector.

Enter Roomtag, a cloud-based software program that helps office tenants control the costs and logistics of their real estate and facilities.  Their Roomtag Floor Plan Viewer (below) helps you decide where to place or rearrange new employees; see clusters of vacancies; and visualize relationships between various departments and positions. You can graphically manage, in real-time, the configuration of your workplace with color-coded views and drag-and-drop changes.

Cost savings can be significant: an average of over $100k per floor per year.  Because the data in Roomtag is linked together and easy to track, CFOs can access up-to-date reports that provide instant metrics for realigning space, subletting a suite, or expanding into new space on an additional floor.

Roomtag also just happens to be expanding their team. If you’re interested, contact them here.
