Curate the Perfect Gift with Wantful

November 6, 2011

Wantful

I love buying gifts for people. When I shop, I’m always on the lookout for  presents to buy for family and friends. Often, I buy gifts way ahead of time, to tuck away for the next special occasion.

If you think gift giving is more of a chore than something to get excited about–or if you’d like to indulge in the gift-shopping process in a brand new way, a startup called Wantful is out to make buying the perfect gift as enjoyable for the giver as it is for the receiver.

Wantful’s website is full of unique gifts to choose from. To create a gift using Wantful, you start by selecting the occasion for the gift. Wantful presents you with fill-in-the-blank sentences to get information about the person you are shopping for. Information collected includes age of recipient, your relationship to them, and details about their hobbies and lifestyle, for example. You get to select details from photo representations as well as show how much the recipient likes certain activities by sliding a bar toward and away from sample style categories and activities– it’s pretty fun!

Finally, you select the amount you’d like to spend, and Wantful presents you with gift ideas ranging from luxury bath and body products and trendy kitchen items to charitable contributions made in the recipient’s name.

Wantful assembles 16 selected items into a catalog and sends it to your gift recipient, who gets to select his or her favorite gift. Then, Wantful ships the gift, wrapped and all, to the recipient.

If you’re not sure what to choose for someone’s next birthday, house-warming or wedding shower, let them choose for you with Wantful. With the holiday shopping season upon us, why not give Wantful a try at tackling your shopping list?
