Find Stylish Eco-Friendly and Ethical Brands at Fashioning Change

If you are struggling to find a stylish gift for your vegan sister or animal-rights- activist brother, head on over to Fashioning Change, a just-launched Netflix-type recommendation site for stylish green shopping.

Co-founded by Adriana Herrera, who has married her marketing and product development background with her interests in human rights, environmental, and education causes,  and Kevin Bell, whose background in technology and interest in social good shines through here, Fashioning Change proves that “eco-friendly” and “ethical” do not equal ugly and crunchy-granola.

The beautiful site features curated products and intuitive search options.  Once you sign in via Facebook or email, you can search by brand, personality, or occasion – I looked up the holiday gift guide, which gives you a bunch of options: stocking stuffers, gifts under $50, gifts for a teenage girl, etc.

Here’s one description for a belt I found, typical for the site:

This belt was designed collaboration with Isaac Laboy. The belt is created out of the fallen roots of a Cupey tree near Isaac’s studio in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico. He makes them in his studio, on top of one of the beautiful hills of Quebradillas. He is a recognized wood craftman and we love him. Each belt has a cotton tape lining and an intricately handcrafted wooden buckle. They were crafted so one size can be worn at the waist or hip. 100% vegan.

They also have a really cool recommendatione engine that uses machine learning and elements of artificial intelligence.  Called “Wear This, Not That,” it will help you find alternatives to name brands; tell them what you like and they’ll give you a list of independent, green brands that have a similar style and price point.
