Episend Shares Rich Media Messages With Ease

Despite how far technology has come, I still occasionally find someone who can’t open the pictures I send in email, isn’t on a social network or bump into max email attachment issues. Episend, based in Watertown, MA, aims to be the easiest way to send anything to anyone. The product offers a free-form canvas where you can click and type anywhere, drag, drop and resize images, text, videos or files wherever and however you want them. Episend messages can be sent to other “Episenders” or to anyone with an email address or shared via social networks. The tool is completely visual to enable a very short learning curve and mass appeal to non-technologists.

From Episend creator Richard DiBona:

Episend is the best and easiest way to create, send and receive rich media messages containing videos, photos, mp3′s, large files and free-form text. It’s more flexible than email, more robust than file sharing and easier than website creation.

In testing out the Episend dashboard we found it easy to use for creating and sharing rich messages and created a quick photo message as shown below. Upon saving it, we were offered a number of ways to share the message including a short URL.

What would you use Episend for? This product may be a great solution for artists looking for a more interesting way to share some of their portfolio work, people who want to quickly store their content somewhere and access from another computer, someone who wants to protect and sell their work (there are password options for security), or for those interested in creating multi-media scrapbooks they’d like to share.

A recent winner of a 2010 MITX PwC Promise Award, we are excited to have Episend on hand this Thursday as a showcased startup at the TECH cocktail Boston startup mixer.
