Find a Last-Minute Hotel and Do Good with RoomSailor

I recently wrote about three sites that make trip planning fun.  But not every trip is planned; sometimes you get stranded, sometimes you decide to take an impromptu trip, and finding a hotel can be hard even when you have time to plan.

RoomSailor , an iPhone app, uses geolocation to search for hotels nearby.  You can set your budget, set the search radius, and choose specific brands if you desire.  Search results are displayed cleanly in either a map view or list view.  Once you select a hotel, you can also get directions on Google Maps, sort results by distance, and book directly through the app.

RoomSailor deserves praise by its own merits, but in addition to the great service and clean user interface, the company also donates to your choice from a list of 18 charities each time you book!

This app reminds me of the popular Hotel Tonight, an iPhone and Android app that allows you to book hotel rooms “tonight,” also using geolocation.  But while Hotel Tonight focuses solely on booking hotels for one night, RoomSailor allows you to book for multiple nights, at any time.
