GE Turns to Instagram to Search For Next Innovative Photographer Talent

Today GE launched a special search to find their next photographer who can share some of the groundbreaking research and technology that GE has been developing since the days of Edison. Previously, GE relied on renowned photographer Noah Kalina to share photos on Tumblr and Instagram.

Now you can take your crack at the gig by sharing photos to Instagram and tagging them #GEinspiredME. Photos that you tag should be inspired by or be reflective of one of GE’s four areas of innovation:

Moving: Sending people and goods around the globe. Capture the spirit of travel, movement or transportation with a picture out the window of a plane, or a car driving by in the rain, or a crowded subway car – get creative.

Building: Providing capital and infrastructure for a growing economy. So capture your local bakery, a food truck, the tech startup down the street, some new construction or even the tallest building in the world.

Curing: Providing better health to people everywhere. Snap healthy shots! Capture people playing sports, your healthy meal, a robust vegetable garden, your new baby or even your shiny, healthy kids.

Powering: Delivering innovative energy solutions. The options here are endless – snapshots that are inspired by power! Glittery holiday lights, the sunrise, a windmill, kites blowing in the wind, the propeller powering a boat… it’s hard not to see opportunities for a shot anywhere you look.

Submitted photos will be included in a special photo gallery on the GE Facebook Page where everyone can vote for their favorites. A team of judges (which will include Frank Gruber of Tech Cocktail) will then select the winners from the finalists. Winners will get a free trip to the United Kingdom valued at $11,000 and be named the next GE Instagrapher. Check out this video (below) for more details.
