Google Investing in South Africa via Umbono

Google recently announced the launch of Umbono, a business incubator based in Cape Town, South Africa.   The Umbono program lasts for 6 months and provides a full range of the critical resources young companies need to move forward.

Entrepreneurs accepted into the program can expect seed capital funding between $25,000 and $50,000, the use of collaborative work space, and business skills training via the Bandwidth Barn’s VeloCITI program, which covers everything from market segmentation to pricing strategies.  A large pool of mentors, including many Googlers, are available for consultation, and each team is paired with a Google Power Mentor, who will provide weekly, hands-on guidance for the duration of the program.  Marketing, networking, and public relations support are also provided.

If you are interested, take that leap forward and apply today!
