If you love to travel but are lacking in the funds department, check out startup myTab, which allows you to set up travel wish lists that friends can donate toward while giving a portion (if you choose) to an eco charity.
Signing up is free, but restricted to US originating domestic and overseas travel for now. You can import Facebook friends to let them know you are saving up for a big trip, be it a honeymoon, graduation gift to yourself, or once-in-a-lifetime trip around the world to celebrate a milestone birthday. It’s also great for team-in-training, school fundraisers, and philanthropy. What the site lacks in design, it makes up for in flexibility.
You can also gift pals for their travel and comment on their trips. Because you must be 18 years old to use myTab, parents have to set up and manage their kids’ accounts.
When you book travel, search on myTab or let them “match myCash” to your trips (saved cash to wish list travel). Just top up myCash at time of booking, if short of savings.
The charities that myTab supports are ArtfulChange; charity: water; EarthJustice; Environmental Media Association; and Nature Conservancy.
