January 16, 2012

Andrew Mason Founder CEO of Groupon on 60 Minutes

In case you missed it last night, Groupon founder and CEO Andrew Mason was on CBS’s 60 Minutes for an almost 13 minute interview about Groupon and i’s successes and failures. In just three years, the Chicago-based company has grown from an idea to 10,000 employees worldwide and recently IPOed. Of those 10,000 employees, they have more than 400 writers working on the Groupon pitches every day (which is more writers than most newsrooms have). The interview touches on a number of topics, including Mason’s ability to lead and the defensibility of the Groupon business itself.

  1. Bob says:

I watched this. Kind of painful. Whatever, he's young. As long as he learned his lesson from his shady business practices he'll be okay. My money is still on http://bigtip.com though in terms of deal sites. Groupon may be on its way out.

  2. Indeed, I would be curious to see his point of view in a decade when he will be more mature and experienced!
