Hidden No Longer: Find Your Stolen Mac with a New App

June 1, 2011

Hidden

If your iMac or MacBook is stolen, don’t think, “Well, at least all my data is backed up in the cloud.” Instead think, “I am so glad I heard about Hidden.” Their very affordable app can not only find your computer anywhere on the planet, but it will also collect photos of the thief and screen shots of the computer in use.

Not that it’s fun to see the thief deleting your accounts and data off the computer, but it is great evidence for the police. Just look at this post on Tumblr. As you see in the post, Hidden takes pictures of the thief using the built-in iSight camera, and their advanced tracking system will be able to pinpoint the location of the computer within a few meters. We don’t know if the Tumblr post is legit or not, but it’s worth taking a look at to see the app’s potential.

Probably the best part, though, is that the Hidden team will help you work with the police when recovering your stolen computer. And it’s only $15/year (there are pricing plans for multiple computers.)
