Hiring People Before You Have A Job For Them With Phil Tadros

We’ve known Phil Tadros for a long time. He’s had products like TextHog and MetroProper featured at Tech Cocktail Chicago mixers and most recently spoke at our Startup Mixology Conference. Aside from his startups, Phil Tadros also owns 13 coffee shops in Chicago and runs his own interactive agency called Doejo. He told me he hires people before he even has a job for them.

I sat down with Phil to discuss his past endeavors as a creative entrepreneur and learn more about his thoughts on hiring people.

This is a great strategy for those that firms that are in a growth phase… It gets harder as firms get larger. If you find a good person, it's a great idea to "get them on the bus" and figure out which seat they best suited for as you're driving.

I love the bit about hiring a print artist and suddenly having a huge inflow of print gigs. It's the reverse of out of sight, out of mind. In sight, in mind.
