Subscription Update
May 22, 2007
Since we are now running events in multiple locations we needed to get our subscriptions/feeds up to par. Basically we needed a feed for both D.C. and Chicago so that the Chicagoans wouldn’t get the D.C. stuff and vice versa. That is now done and you’ll see the handy work on the far right sidebar of the site.
We have the original “All Posts” feed there as well in case anyone wants to get everything we post (I know our moms do at least). If you need/want to update your TC subscription please do. This officially ends our public service announcement.
Side note: Thanks for the kick Larry!
Jeff Pulver’s Summer Party: RSVP Now
May 22, 2007
For all the Chicago TCers out there Jeff Pulver (yes, the man that took care of all of us at TC 2 a while back) has been nice enough to extend some slots for his annual summer bash to all of you. The party should be a blast and the least we can do to thank Jeff for his help with TC 2 last October is to come have a good time and drink some free drinks, right? Here are the details:
Event: Jeff’s Summer Bash
Venue: House of Blues in the Loop
Date: Tuesday, June 19th
Times: 7pm - 11pm
Details: Open Bar - Some Food - Live Music from the Herding Cats
RSVP: Yes - you need to RSVP to gain entry
What do you need to do to get in on this?
1. RSVP here (make sure to include a /TC after your company name so Jeff knows you’re a TCer - for example I would write FeedBurner/TC for my company name)
2. Be one of the first 100 or so to do the above.
That’s it. A nice one step process. RSVP as soon as you can. Spots are filling up quickly!
TECH cocktail Testimonials: Bring ‘em on!
May 21, 2007
Did you meet someone at TECH cocktail that:
- You did business with?
- You hired?
- Hired you?
- You started a company with?
- Gave you some great ideas?
- Asked you on a date?
Well, we don’t really care about the last one but if it happened for you then congrats!
OK, enough of my attempts to be funny. Please send along your testimonials to eric [at] techcocktail.com or simply add them to the comments here. This is for both Chicagoans and DC folks and it will hopefully show us that the events have been adding value to the communities they are part of. We’ll also wrap up some of the best testimonials in a forthcoming post.
Thanks in advance from Frank and I and stay tuned for more TECH cocktails to come.

Time to Get LinkedIn DC
May 18, 2007
First, thanks to all those folks who made last night a big success. It was a big step to leave our Chicago haven and branch out into another city but it is looking like the right move and making us even more excited to move this idea to other cities as well.
That said, why should the networking and connecting stop after the event? We set up a TECH cocktail group on LinkedIn a while ago that 343 of your Chicago brethren are part of so you should join up as well.
What’s so great about the group is that as a member you can contact any other member directly (unless that member has said in their LinkedIn settings they do not want to be contacted by other TC group members of course) which will allow more business to happen.
Click here to join the TECH cocktail LinkedIn group. You won’t regret it.
Not Just A Series Of Tubes In DC
May 18, 2007
More than 250 bloggers, technology enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists gathered at the premier DC night club MCCXXIII for drinks, fun, and socializing last night at TECH cocktail DC 1. In addition to free beer and wine (some brought by Wine Library TV who recently acquired Cork’d.com) the bar was filled with music as up-and-coming website developers highlighted promising sites such as Sportsvite, Clearspring, Buzz XYZ, Patent Monkey and Wine Library TV.
While TECH Cocktail has already been a big success in Chicago, it is exciting to know that DC and potentially other markets are ready for social gatherings like TECH Cocktail.
Also attending was CollectiveX who helped us out by creating a TECH Cocktail group which leveraged their group product - be sure to join the group today!
A special thank you to Nick O’Neill for helping Eric and I get this going in DC - we couldn’t have done it without you. Also thank you to all our sponsors, demo’ers, helpers and guests for making TECH cocktail a reality thus proving that the Internet and web technology is more than just a series a tubes in DC.

More event photos can be found on Flickr tagged techcocktaildc1. Special thank you to Raoul Pop for taking this awesome photo set at TcDC1 - this guy can take some pictures!
