Not Just A Series Of Tubes In DC
May 18, 2007
More than 250 bloggers, technology enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists gathered at the premier DC night club MCCXXIII for drinks, fun, and socializing last night at TECH cocktail DC 1. In addition to free beer and wine (some brought by Wine Library TV who recently acquired Cork’d.com) the bar was filled with music as up-and-coming website developers highlighted promising sites such as Sportsvite, Clearspring, Buzz XYZ, Patent Monkey and Wine Library TV.
While TECH Cocktail has already been a big success in Chicago, it is exciting to know that DC and potentially other markets are ready for social gatherings like TECH Cocktail.
Also attending was CollectiveX who helped us out by creating a TECH Cocktail group which leveraged their group product - be sure to join the group today!
A special thank you to Nick O’Neill for helping Eric and I get this going in DC - we couldn’t have done it without you. Also thank you to all our sponsors, demo’ers, helpers and guests for making TECH cocktail a reality thus proving that the Internet and web technology is more than just a series a tubes in DC.

More event photos can be found on Flickr tagged techcocktaildc1. Special thank you to Raoul Pop for taking this awesome photo set at TcDC1 - this guy can take some pictures!

congrats Frank, Eric and Nick for putting together such a great event. hard to believe so many of us have never had a venue like this for checking out local startups and meeting colleagues. looking forward to the next one!
What did you all think of the sites they presented? Clearspring looks pretty cool, and Wine Library definitely scored a coup with Corkd (the UI is slick!) but I thought Sportsvite was the best of the bunch. Such a great idea, and the site really has great set of tools.
There are so many of these up and coming “networks” so I grow weary of these announcements, but Sportsvite seems like they really get it. Great design and great utility - well done!
