Odeo - launched a new beta verision which offers both search and personalized content (audio and video) recommendations.

Voxant - a free licensed content offering for publishers which offers a pageview based revenue share to anyone that embeds the content on a their site.

WhyGoSolo - a new social networking site aimed at helping you to create spontaneous new connections so, as its name implies, you won’t go solo any longer.

We could not put on an event like TECH cocktail DC 2 without the support of our sponsors which included AOL, Viget Labs, Voxant, Network Solutions and Jess3 - thank you. Stickers for TECH cocktail DC 2 were provided by StickerGiant.com.

The very talented D.C. local photographer Raoul Pop captured the evenings happenings in his photos - check out the TECH cocktail DC 2 Photos.

WhyGoSolo Handshake Before TECH cocktail DC 2

April 23, 2008

WhyGoSoloIn the spirit of amplifying the technology signal in under served market; we love to support and bring light to the startups in the cities like Chicago, D.C., Boston and Boulder. We do this through our sponsors, as well as having the local startups demo at our events.

One of the startups showing off its stuff at TECH cocktail DC 2 tomorrow, WhyGoSolo, wants to showoff a little early to make its demo tomorrow night have a bigger impact on the DC community and better connecting people together at the event. Simply get yourself a WhyGoSolo Handshake for the event which basically means that someone else is going to agree to attend TECH Cocktail DC 2 with you but keep in mind you still need to RSVP here for TECH cocktail DC 2. Visit WhyGoSolo.com (create an account if you don’t already have one) and create a listing for TECH Cocktail DC 2. Here is an example of a listing from Keith the CTO of WhyGoSolo. Past TECH cocktail Sponsor Athena Security Best of RSA 2008

April 19, 2008

Lisle, Illinois based Athena Security has quite the showing at the 2008 RSA conference last week. In fact, Network World’s Richard Stiennon had this to say about Athena after seeing them at the show:

I met them off-campus. They did not even have a booth. But their product rocks. It is a security mapping tool that can be used to assess overall network threat exposure. It grabs configurations from security devices and figures out just what resources are exposed to network entry points. The best thing about their product is that it compares your current network architecture to various best practices (NIST and the like) and gives you a score. It then allows you to model proposed changes (moving a server, adding a rule) and see how it impacts your score. AthenaVerify is a great tool to help the enterprise evolve to a more secure posture.

Very nice guys! All of us here in Illinois are proud of you. Keep up the good work.
