Hurricane Party: Your Spontaneous Geo-Local Party App

Thanks to geo-location apps such as Foursquare and SVNGR we can now know where our friends are in real-time. And thanks to location based reward programs like Groupon and LivingSocial, consumers can now find deals at local establishments. Combine the two and we now have Hurricane Party, merging geo-location and local rewards programs so we can now know where our friends are in real-time, invite them to a spontaneous party and as a group enjoy a local deal.

Hurricane Party is an app that shows you where your friends are at any given time and allows you to create an event and invite as many friends as you want. Once the event is created, the local establishments are clued in and the deals are automatically on their way. The app makes creating a party a cinch! It’s great for the users because they can save on texting and organizing, and can benefit from group buying offers.

Hurricane Party bridges the gap between social networking and actually being social.

UT-Austin students Rene Pinnell and Eric Katerman founded Hurricane Party, Inc.

Download their app for free in the iTunes App Store and come meet the team in person at TechCocktail Austin on October 7th at Hudson on Fifth.
