Poll Results: Hurricane Party Hottest Startup at SXSW 2011

After a week of polling, Austin-based startup Hurricane Party came out on top of our 2011 Hottest Startup at SXSW poll. Though group texting/chat was a hot trend at SXSW 2011, it seems that the real battle was between geo-location services that help connect people either in real-life or anonymously. Hurricane Party and Localmind battled fiercely for the top spot.

In case these two products are new to you, Hurricane Party is a free, mobile application the helps you find friends, share, and create spontaneous parties. Seems fitting at SXSW, right? Meanwhile, Localmind is a free, mobile application that enables you to ask questions to people that check-in to various locations. I recommend you download both apps – it is not the last time you’ll hear about either of them.

Congrats to all who participated and were the talk of SXSW 2011: Fast Society, GroupMe, Groupflier, Hashable, Hurricane Party, Instagram, LiveShare, Localmind, Sifteo, Storify, Uber, Yobongo, Zaarly.

But overall, Hurricane Party took home the top honor in 2011. Check out the final poll results below.
