Jetlev Flyer Personal Jetpack; Start Flying Now

Flight is something that has kept humanity in awe since long before the Wright Brothers made their first flight in Kittyhawk in 1903. Since then the commercialization of flight has made it nearly impossible to not see or hear an airplane at any given time in any given industrialized nation. That said, everything from the Jetsons to Micheal Jordan to Superman himself has helped further nudge our fascination with human flight.

Personally, I thought my flying powers would kick in at a much younger age, say around 3 or 4 years old, by sporting my Superman cape and underoos on the outside of my Superman pajamas, but apparently your apparel is not as much of a determining factor as I initially thought. However, there is a new device that may be able to help. The Jetlev Flyer has recently come onto the market to offer personal jetpack experiences that reminds me of Ironman.

The backpack device uses water to propel you up in the air and enable anyone to get the sense of human flight. It also enables you to walk on water which looks fun. Its powerful 4-stroke-engines (130 – 300 horsepower) can reach an altitude up to 45 feet (15 meters), a top-speed of 47 mph (75 km/h) and can cruise up to 185 miles (300 km). The only downside is the fact you have to use the device over water, which could definitely have negative impacts on ones range and abilities to fight crime (Superman’s job is not in jeopardy just yet). Orders for the Jetlev Flyer are being accepted between now and April, for delivery in May and June 2011. It is priced at 100,000 Euro ($130,000 USD). I expect to see these at many sea-side resorts alongside jet skies and para-sailers.
