File Sharing Made Easy with JustBeamIt

Most savvy Internet users have no problem using online file sharing services such as Dropbox, YouSendIt, or Box.  Ask your mom to send you a file through one of these services, however, and failure is the likely outcome.

JustBeamIt is a new, sleek file transfer service that even mom can use.

Using JustBeamIt requires three easy steps:

1. Upload a file by either selecting a file from your hard drive, or use their drag n’ drop feature (note: Firefox didn’t allow drag n’ drop, Chrome did).
2. After uploading, a justbeamit.com link will appear pointing to this file.  Share this link with your intended recipient(s).
3. Keep your browser open while the file is “beamed” to your recipient upon opening the link.

That’s it.

Clearly the main drawback with this service is the need to keep the browser open while waiting for the individual to download the link.  Mom might not get that part right.  JustBeamIt would be an ideal service for quickly sharing files (up to 2 gigabytes) with a friend (or mom) on Facebook messenger or preferred instant messaging service.  In other words, the recipient must be active and aware of your intentions for file sharing. Because no account is required to share a file, and the homepage is also the upload prompt, JustSendIt reduces file sharing down to the fewest steps.
