Larry Page Takes Over As Google CEO; Is This Good For Google?

Google had its fourth quarter earnings call this afternoon, and with it they announced that Larry Page is replacing Eric Schmidt as CEO of Google. Eric Schmidt will become the Chairman of Google on April 4th, 2011. Schmidt has been running Google since August 2001 which is nearly 10 years now, and a very long time in Silicon Valley “tech years.”

On the Google blog they explained:

“And as our results today show, the outlook is bright. But as Google has grown, managing the business has become more complicated. So Larry, Sergey and I have been talking for a long time about how best to simplify our management structure and speed up decision making—and over the holidays we decided now was the right moment to make some changes to the way we are structured.”

According to CNN Money Schmidt said Page is: “ready to lead.”

So we wondered, what do you think about this move? Take our poll below.
