Loic Le Meur announces Seesmic acquired Ping.fm

Ping.fm was acquired by Seesmic

Loic le Meur founder of Seesmic today posted on his Facebook Wall “welcome on board, Ping.fm team and users! (Seesmic acquired ping.fm).” Seesmic has expanded from the video sharing tool it was when it started. I use the Seesmic desktop regularly to manage my Twitter feeds and streams and Seesmic also recently acquired Twhirl which is a Twitter desktop client. Ping.fm ‘s mantra is “Post From Anywhere » To Anywhere”  you can update your status on many social networks using Ping.fm. This seems to me a strategy by Seesmic to focus increasingly on being a desktop client of choice for users of social networks. Their main competition is from TweetDeck .

Congrats! Loic and we will be watching to see how Seesmic evolves. What do you use for managing your social networking streams? What do you think of this acquisition?

UPDATED: Check out what Loic Le Meur has to say about the Ping.fm acquisition on the Seesmic blog.
