Matt Mireles of SpeakerText On Getting Back Up As An Entrepreneur

December 28, 2011

Tech Cocktail Delivering Happiness with Matt Mireles of SpeakerText

After figuring out that you do not need to be a “techie” to start a company, firefighter and paramedic turned journalist Matt Mireles took to tackling the problem that video has on the web – primarily that it’s not indexed the same by Google or other search engines due to its rich non-text format. So Matt founded SpeakerText to transcribe video into text in an affordable way. SpeakerText leverages a combination of speech-to-text software, natural language processing, and crowdsourced human labor (via Mechanical Turk) to create each transcript. Video publishers submit videos they want transcribed.

Matt shared his perspectives on starting up and what gets him excited as an entrepreneur as part of out Tech Cocktail Delivering Happiness video series at SXSW. Watch the interview with Matt Mireles of SpeakerText (below).
