MindSnacks offers a game-driven, mobile platform to learn a language. Currently the platform is offered for the iPhone and is limited to Spanish, but their goal is to soon offer French, Italian and Mandarin – and continue expanding from there.
The current Spanish learning app was built in ten weeks and is now available in the iTunes app store. The demos we saw were pretty compelling – including games covering vocabulary, reading, writing, listening and conversation skills. Features include:
- 50 Spanish lessons designed by Ivy League instructors
- 1400+ words and phrases to master
- 1400+ native speaker audio clips
- Full library of images
- Personalized learning algorithms to maximize retention
- 16 fun challenges to keep you motivated
- Keeps track of your high scores and learning progress
We highlighted MindSnacks early last month as they were one of Philadelphia’s DreamIt Ventures Demo Day graduates this year. Founder of MindSnacks, Jesse Pickard, left the Philly area for San Francisco shortly after the DreamIt Ventures incubator 2010 program completed, so we are excited to have him show off MindSnacks at tonight’s TECH cocktail startup mixer event and hopefully meet some like-minded locals. Come meet Jesse and check out MindSnacks at tonight’s TECH cocktail startup mixer at Roe.
