Mobspot, a showcased startup that demoed at the TECH cocktail SXSW: Blackout Sunday event in Austin and a SXSW Accelerator finalist, has released the Mobspot Facebook Application so that Facebook users with iPhones can now see which apps their friends actually use and like. As written about previously, Mobspot wants to solve the problem of mobile app discovery for all phone platforms. This Facebook app is an important Mobspot extension, combining mobile app discovery and social interaction with Facebook’s massive audience to create a new way for you to find mobile applications. If Mobspot has it their way, you’ll never have to search an app store again – instead, you’ll see your network’s recommendations (including usage and ratings) and go from there.
Particularly if you have friends like Ed Palumbo of Philadelphia, PA, an early Mobspot tester who rated 164 apps in 10 minutes. “I’m passionate about finding the best apps and my friends know this, now they can browse my top rated apps apps 24/7.”
Once you install/allow the Facebook App, the process is pretty quick. You give it permission to scan your library for iPhone apps, it creates a list and then you rate them. Here are some screenshots from the app – a glimpse of some of my apps and friends apps.
