Overwhelmed by social networking information overload? A new distributed social networking optimization and recommendations service called n2 (website is not launched yet) might be able to help. n2 will look to enable users to attack social networking information overload by offering recommendations for the best people to talk to for any given situation. Product recommendations will also be offered as n2 looks to be a tool for pointing you in the direction of people who might be able to help. The goal of n2 is to make social networks more social through optimization. Since n2 has not yet launched it’s unclear exactly how it will fall into the social networking landscape. At first glance it could look something like Aardvark or NutshellMail. It’s also worth noting that Aardvark was recently acquired by Google, and more recently NutShellMail was acquired by Constant Contact – thus validating the market for a social networking optimization and recommendations product.
n2 is the creation of Jon Nathanson and his team of fellow Northwestern University grads (Chad Smith, Robert Guoyi Han, Christopher Durand and Heather Smith). The team will be on hand as a showcased application at the Mobile TECH cocktail Chicago 2 mixer event on June 24th, sponsored by Microsoft Windows 7. Swing by and see if n2 can help answer all of your questions.
