Need a New Job? Google’s Hiring!

Even though Facebook has eclipsed Google in the news, seems like Google had a pretty good year in 2010.  Despite the whole China episode, Android took off, and their bets that mobile, display advertising, and the cloud would be big in 2010 proved correct.  The use of Chrome and Google apps are growing exponentially.  Oh, and they generated $29.3 billion in revenue and $8.5 billion in net income. Yup, pretty good year.

And they think 2011 will be even better, as they are set to hire more than 6,200 new employees, marking their biggest hiring year ever.  Many of the jobs include open positions here in DC and Reston; they include engineers, of course, but I spied some marketing, public policy, and legal positions as well.

Here’s what Alan Eustace, their senior vice president of engineering and research had to say on their blog:

We’ll hire as many smart, creative people as we can to tackle some of the toughest challenges in computer science: like building a web-based operating system from scratch, instantly searching an index of more than 100 million gigabytes and even developing cars that drive themselves.

If you need an excuse to apply, check out their top ten reasons to work at Google.
