NeighborGoods 2.0 Launches – Groups Added and Location Technology Updated

June 2, 2011

NeighborGoods

NeighborGoods, the social sharing service, has had a very busy spring.  First they were featured at our SXSW Accelerator Kickoff, where they won Best Bootstrapped Startup, and last week, they demo’d at Tech Cocktail Los Angeles.

But that’s not all.  They were just featured as one of Entrepreneur Magazine’s 2011 100 Brilliant Companies of 2011, and thanks to the generous support they received through their Kickstarter project, they just launched NeighborGoods 2.0.

This next iteration of NeighborGoods allows members to create groups to share privately and post messages for their neighbors, which is also a great resource for larger organizations.  They have been working directly with apartment complexes, homeowners’ associations, corporations and cities to create sponsored groups as a benefit for their members. If you interested, contact them to learn more about the enterprise edition.

They have also updated their location technology by adding neighborhood information from Zillow.com for their 3 most active cities: Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. Members in those areas will be able to join their neighborhood sharing groups. In addition, US zip codes have been replaced with geocoding, so people outside the US can begin to use the service.
