Nine Mobile Apps Showcased in Chicago

Our second Chicago Mobile TECH cocktail mixer is scheduled for tonight and we wanted to share a quick preview. In case you are new to our Mobile TECH cocktail event series, we hosted our first event in January in Chicago, then went on to host another in Barcelona at the World Mobile Congress, and last month we hosted our first Mobile TECH cocktail DC mixer showcasing 6 startups. With all the mobile application developers, startups and entrepreneurs in the Chicagoland area we are excited at the opportunity to showcase some of them to the rest of the community. The event looks to better connect, educate and amplify the local mobile technology community and will have six local mobile focused startups on hand demoing in an expo-style to the rest of the Chicago entrepreneurial community for free.

The following will be showcased applications at the event:

JunoWallet allows you to get free promotional mobile gift cards and certificates, securely store your existing gift cards, check balances, and buy gift cards at discounts and with bonuses.

Motionoto enables user to share photos with the world in a whole new-old way! Select a bunch of photos from your library and drop them into your timeline, select your speed, and share.

DealRadar is a mobile one-stop-shop to find all the local daily deals in your city, and now you can do it on the go via its new app.

n2 is a mobile, social networking service that enables users to ask questions of, or start conversations with, all of their friends from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or OpenID networks.

The App House creates games and will be showing off Simon Graham and the Extraordinary Timepiece and Revz.

The Drink Specials App uses the power of your iPhone’s GPS to give you specials that are available near you, right now.

This or That Trivia is a simple categorization and trivia game.

Specials Agent offers local bar and restuarant specials online and now via its hot, new, chart topping iPhone application.

The event is presented by Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 Series and we are thankful for Microsoft’s sponsorship and support of the Chicago mobile technology and entrepreneurial community. The new Windows Phone 7 Series device first previewed just a few months ago and is yet to hit the market but you can find out more about it at: windowsphone7.com. If you are developer and would like to start exploring the totally new development platform please visit MSDN’s Developer Channel for WP7.

Watch the video below for a preview of the Windows Phone 7 series features.

Connecting Startups and Investors – To continue to add value and stay true to our “cocktail mixer of mobile tech people” theme, we are calling all Chicago area entrepreneurs looking for seed funding or angel investors. We are also looking to identify all local angel investors interested in finding additional deal flow. We know that this type of connection has happened naturally at our events in the past, but we want to help water the seeds a bit and ensure that the fruit of our labor is a better connected entrepreneurial community. So if you fall into either of those categories please fill out the appropriate form by following the links below:

Startups – Find Active Investors
Investors – Join the Active Investor List

Join us for a fun evening, mingling with other mobile technology enthusiasts, VCs, bloggers and entrepreneurs as we host our second Mobile TECH cocktail mixer event in Chicago.

  1. What a great event it was for network and that JunoWallet app is the best…I used it today at John Barleycorn with my girlfriends and we were so happy when they honored the $10 gift card…How can they do this and give away so many really cool gift cards…I am going to check out more of them this week and I may have found my new favorite app of all time…too cool…

Even though the event ended a long time ago, I'm still interested in Networking with my fellow tech cocktail attendees

I’m a local Chicago guy that started a custom software development company (Custom Software by Preston) a few years ago. Mainly we improve business processes through developing web based software (using .Net, ColdFusion, Ruby on Rails, Java, you name it!).
