Nokia announced recently that they acquired the Chicago-based mobile company, Novarra. Novarra offers a mobile browser and service platform. Nokia plans to leverage the platform and mobile browser to deliver enhanced Internet experiences. Novarra has deployed their solution with leading mobile operator and internet services customers globally. Nokia is expecting to offer a new service utilizing the Novarra technology platform later this year.
The acquisition is expected to close in the Q2 of 2010. Following the acquisition, Novarra who has more than 100 employees will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nokia. We are not sure if they will stay in Chicago but I assume so.
