Online sharing via the “cloud” is becoming more and more commonplace, but Bloomington-based startup Squad is the first of its kind to create a streamlined collaboration tool just for coding.

The web-based collaborative text editor makes it simple to open, edit and share code in real time. Created by Mike Trotzke as a “HomeSprout for SproutBox,” Squad is simple enough for novice users, but packs all the extensive features for coding experts – making it an ideal editor for coding from the classroom, office, coffee shop or wherever you happen to be.

Squad allows you to open remote or local files without having to create a new development process. All you have to do is share a unique URL with your team members, and they instantly have access to edit and work on the code from their machine. No clunky installation required.

All files can be saved back to your server or computer, and the editor keeps track of your team’s coding progress with a searchable history. You can even chat with your colleagues within the same window and review those notes at a later time.

With multi-language support and a ton of features, Squad is a quick and easy way to share code with coworkers or make quick fixes from anywhere. Single-user plans are available for just $3.95 a month, while team plans for up to 5 users run for $49.95 a month.
