Quotogram Wants to Inspire You, One Quote at a Time

As an enthusiastic writer and reader, I’m excited for the release of Quotogram, an app for discovering, organizing, and sharing quotes. You can view recent, popular, or your friends’ quotes, and search by author, keywords, and tags. If your favorite quote is nowhere to be found, you can submit it (or correct any misquotes).

The Quotogram cofounders – Kevin Dubs, Gary Romanov, Stan Reeser, Rochelle Pennington, Joey Seich, Gene Pian, and Vince Hickey – see quotes as more than just pithy one-liners.

“As this project progressed, it occurred to us how influential quotes are in our everyday lives.  Books, movies, lyrics, and even speeches are anchored in our memories with words that inspire, amuse, and influence us,” they explain.

Quotes can connect us deeply with speakers, they add:

“For example, the quote ‘Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish’ was first written on the back page of an old catalog that Steve Jobs used to read.  He discovered the quote, lived by it, and shared it at a Stanford graduation speech 30 years later. This taped speech was shared on TED and YouTube and has been viewed over 20 million times since. We, along with million of others, now live by those words.”

Some of the team’s other favorite quotes include:

“You must be the change you want to see in the world.” – Gandhi

“Determine that the thing can and shall be done, and then we shall find the way.” – Abraham Lincoln

As we wrote previously, Quotogram was born during the DCWEEK Hackathon in November, when the gang of cofounders met. They started chatting about the power of quotes on the way to lunch and ended their meal with a slew of ideas based on an original vision by Romanov.

Quotogram will be demoing their mobile and web apps at our February 16 Tech Cocktail DC mixer; in the meantime, check out the screenshots below.
