New Technology Studio Launches In LA Today Lead By Mike Jones

November 16, 2011

Science Inc.

A new technology studio launched today in Los Angeles called Science, Inc, with a mission to create and acquire – and then scale – successful digital businesses by bringing together the best ideas, talent, resources and financing through a centralized platform. The studio is founded by Michael Jones, former CEO of Myspace.

Science focuses on 3 things:

  • Developing new businesses
  • Providing emerging startups with operational advice and capital
  • Transforming later-stage Internet assets with new talent and innovation
We are excited to see the launch, as Mike Jones, who was interviewed at the DCWEEK Opening Keynotes by Tech Cocktail’s Jen Consalvo a week ago today, hinted at something new coming to the LA tech community. Today Mike had this to say of the launch:

“With Science’s model, we can centralize resources, lower the cost to launch new businesses, execute more rapidly and effectively help startups avoid the pitfalls they typically face.”

Aside from Mike, the team behind Science offers some familiar faces, including Mike Macadaan, Ryan Sit and Tom Dare.
Science is backed by a group of top institutional and independent investors, which include Rustic Canyon, White Star Capital, The Social+Capital Partnership, Tomorrow Ventures (which is Eric Schmidt’s venture fund), Siemer Ventures, Philippe Camus, Jean-Marie Messier, Jonathan Miller and Dennis Phelps.
