Get Feedback While You Shop with the Shall I Buy App

Just in time for holiday shopping (for everyone on your list – and you too!), a new social shopping site that will help make those toss-up decisions for you.

The Dutch startup Shall I Buy targets the brick-and-mortar shopper seeking in-the-moment buying advice from its peers.

Shall I Buy is very similar to Snapette, which we covered in August.  When you are out shopping, you snap a picture or take a video and upload it to the Shall I buy it app.   You can then notify your friends via push notifications, Facebook, Twitter and email to get instant feedback from friends and peers, who explore posts, like they would explore a consumer blog.

App users can see a variety of posts and can choose to like, dislike or comment on any given post.  Viewers can also see the product the shopper is deciding whether or not to buy, along with its price and where it’s located.   Talk about the potential of word of mouth, viral videos, and shared images.

I could see this easily developing into a comparison shopping site, because you can also keep track of the products and stores where you have spotted various items.  Community features could encourage shopping tips and advice – for example, community members could easily advise not to buy at XYZ store, because you can get it 20% cheaper on Amazon.  Getting honest feedback from the masses is a great way to prevent buyer’s remorse.
