NeighborGoods helps you save money, live more sustainably, and strengthen ties within your local community by sharing goods and skills with your neighbors.
Did you know that Americans spend $22 billion a year on self-storage? According to the Self Storage Association, there is over seven square feet of self-storage for every man, woman and child in America. That’s a lot of stuff that’s just sitting around!
When you add an item to the NeighborGoods inventory, you choose how to share it with the community. For example, you can allow your friends to borrow the item for free and charge others a rental fee. Or you can decide to make the item only available to friends. Because it’s your stuff, you set the rules.
To keep things organized, NeighborGoods has some great tools to help facilitate all those transactions: a reservation calendar, automated reminders, wishlist alerts, and private messaging between neighbors. And the service is free!
NeighborGoods is one of the featured startups at our SXSW Accelerator Kickoff on Sunday. Say hi, learn more about their service, and plot how you can live more sustainably when you get back home.
