Social Media Hour: Flash Mobs & Education

Mob mentality – not precisely a phrase that brings to mind the best of human behavior, but somehow thanks to social media the concept of a mob has been turned into a powerful marketing technique. Flash mobs, initially a phenomenon for pure amusement have become somewhat of a tool for brave marketers.

On this week’s episode, Cathy is joined by Chicago-based PR whirlwind Sarah Evans. Sarah was included as one of six women selected as Vanity Fair’s American Tweethearts, for her expertise in leveraging social media includes her work orchestrating a social mob … for social good.

Also this week, Farb Nivi joins the program to talk about combating brain drain for students during the summer months. The founder of Grockit, Farb has spent a career helping students stay sharp and prepare for tests, and through his company now leverages social media to do so.
