Chris Messina of Google joined us for a great chat with Tech Cocktail’s founder Frank Gruber during SXSW for our Delivering Happiness video series. During the brief conversation, he covered the social web and how important it is to make the web in general more accessible to a wider variety of people, as well as the future of web apps and his belief that they will consolidate and morph – you will no longer be defined by the apps you use, but rather, apps will enable personal APIs.
Back in March, Chris was Google’s Open Web Advocate, where he focused on the social web and how it works, educating both people outside of and inside Google. As Frank points out in the video, Chris’ role combined evangelism and thought leadership as he told stories to help more people benefit from the web. Since we spoke to him, he has moved over to Google+. Funny to think Google+ didn’t even exist yet during SXSW.
