Soundoff.fm Seeks Musical Beta Testers

Soundoff.fm, a new startup out of Chicago, is looking for musical beta testers – bands and musicians specifically. The general concept of the site is pretty simple:
1. Artists upload the best 20 seconds of their music. This 20 second clip is entered into a voting pool, by genre.
2. Voters select a genre, hear two songs, and vote for the track they like best. This process is blind – no band names, no pictures, etc. It’s the Pepsi Challenge of the music world.
3. After voting, users can see the actual bands that they voted for (music discovery!) and the users earn credit to spend on the site. The bands you vote for are saved to your profile so you can go back to them later.
4. Users can spend the credits they earn to download music tracks or to promote themselves (if they’re artists). For example, they could purchase a spot on the site as a “featured band”.
If you join now as a beta tester, you’ll be among the first to upload music to the site and provide the team with feedback. You may also earn bonus credits on the site. And of course you’ll be helping out a new startup – which is priceless. The voting won’t be turned on until they have a great selection of music from various artists, so get in there and help them out.
