StoryAmp Connects Musicians with Journalists

October 27, 2011

StoryAmp

If you’re a band, you know that you have a ton of competition in the never-ending race to get noticed, build a fan base, and turn your passion into a major success.  If you’re a journalist, finding new bands that are worthwhile covering is a major challenge.  Bloomington-based StoryAmp is bringing the 2 groups together by helping musicians connect with journalists.

Founder Dmitri Vietze is no stranger to the music scene.  He started rock paper scissors, inc., a boutique music publicity firm with an emphasis on “music of global significance,” has represented the media interests of every major label and dozens of independent labels and festivals all over the US.

Thanks to his background, he knows there is a big gap between traditional PR agencies and musicians.  StoryAmp lets musicians upload their music, story, photos, videos, concert info, links, and more to create a Dispatch. Share your Dispatch with your fans or through one of StoryAmp’s press lists.

For journalists, StoryAmp puts music pitches into a consistent format to make decision-making easy, free up your inbox, and let you focus on writing.

If you have ever looked into hiring a publicist, you know that traditional PR agencies are expensive.  StoryAmp beats them with price and automation and puts you in control of your message and timing.  Online PR services, like PR Newswire, are not optimized for music coverage, while the Virtual Publicist simply sells music journalist email addresses.  StoryAmp has filters in place to help journalists by increase their efficiency and discovery simultaneously.

If you missed meeting StoryAmp at our Tech Cocktail Bloomington event last week, definitely check out their beautifully designed website to learn more.
