TapGuest Looks To Replace Restaurant Pager Systems

Who uses pagers anymore? Restaurants do. They usually use flashy, brightly lit pager systems to manage their waiting customers. San Diego-based startup TapGuest just launched offering restaurants a more modern and useful solution.

TapGuest is a web-based, iPad friendly wait list and guest management tool for waiting areas. It offers an iPad friendly guest paging system that works on most computers too. TapGuest automates most wait list functions using text & voice to notify, inform and interact with guests. It also offers SMS and VOIP messaging for guests. Not only does TapGuest offer waiting list functionality, it also helps keep restaurants connected with their guests by offering social integration with the restaurant’s Facebook page.

TapGuest offers a professional waiting system that takes on restaurant pager systems which often come with an expensive hardware pricetag. All you need with TapGuest is an iPad or Computer and a web connection. It is a subscription based service for venues with two price points at $59 and $99 per month based on the number of text and voice messages the system sends.

TapGuest, founded by Larry DeLisio Jr. and Robert Bartlett, is currently self-funded and bootstrapped, but looking for a $250K angel round of funding. We’d love to see TapGuest use any funding it receives to create an iPhone, Android and iPad application for its service, which should further aid it’s adoption by restaurants.

The TapGuest team will be on hand to show off TapGuest as a featured startup at the upcoming Tech Cocktail San Diego mixer on December 2nd at Analog. Come meet them and find out how TapGuest is going to make guest waiting better.
