TECH cocktail Chicago 13: Connecting Technology Startups, Investors, Employers & Enthusiasts

April 19, 2010

TECH cocktail Startup Showcase

Selected local startups get free event demo space.

It’s been far too long since we have hosted our last TECH cocktail Chicago event so we are excited to announce we will be hosting the TECH cocktail Chicago 13 mixer event in the Windy City on Thursday, May 13th. The event will take place in the Wrigleyville neighborhood at John Barleycorn and will showcase some of the freshest technology startup companies in the area. Other local technology companies will also be on hand to show off their stuff as we rally the community together.

Helping Startups Get Exposure – TECH cocktail offers a handful of startups an opportunity to show off in an expo-style to the rest of the Chicago entrepreneurial community for FREE. The following companies have been selected as showcased startups at the event:

BriteTab - online resume community site
Chattertree – brings families together online to connect and share.
Cloudmach – brings rich 3D graphics to every web-enabled device, with no downloads and installations.
Foodie Registry – an online restaurant registry.
G2.fm – connects musicians venues and fans around the world.
Genlighten – Crowdsourcing genealogy, this online marketplace helps genealogists find the offline documents they need using a network of skilled local researchers.
GiveForward.org – Online fundraising platform that combines “pay it forward” and micro-financing principles.
LoudPixel – human-powered social media monitoring and analysis tailored to your company and delivered online to your team.
PiggyBack – helps keep track of IOU’s between friends.
Readeo – tool that connects kids with relatives near and far for shared reading experiences.
DealRadar – aggregates local Deal-A-Day sites in your city into a one-stop shop.
River – communication platform for business that aims to make task management dead simple for your company and its projects.
ZineCube – A self-publisher platform for digital magazines.

Connecting Startups and Investors – To continue to add value and stay true to our “cocktail mixer of tech people” theme, we are calling all Illinois entrepreneurs looking for seed funding or angel investors to fill out this application as we will be trying to help match local startups with local seed or angel investors. If you are an angel investor interested in finding additional deal flow please fill out this form. We know that this type of connection has happened naturally at our events in the past, but we want to help water the seeds a bit and ensure that the fruit of our labor is a better connected entrepreneurial community. Once again, for clarity’s sake:

Startups  – Find Active Investors
Investors – Join the Active Investor List

Connecting the technology community – Averaging around 500+ attendees at our Chicago TECH cocktail events you are bound to connect with potential new employees, developers, designers and more at one of our events. TECH cocktail could be the place where you meet your next employee, co-founder or even get a date. If you are a company looking to hire, you can also leverage the TECH cocktail job board to get the message out early – or you could sponsor the event and use it as your own personal job fair.

I'm looking for opportunities to network with my fellow tech cocktail attendees.

I’m a local Chicago guy that started a custom software development company, Custom Software by Preston a few years ago. Mainly we improve business processes through developing web based software (using .Net, ColdFusion, Ruby on Rails, Java, you name it!). We have quite a diverse set of IT skills and would consider any project where we could provide our clients technical assistance.

Let me know if you want to chat!
