Content, Career, and Community for Professional Women from The Daily Muse

September 19, 2011

The Daily Muse

In between Cosmo and Glamour, there isn’t much in the way of content aimed at young women beyond celebrity news, sex tips, and what shoe is hot for fall.  There’s nothing wrong with that, of course – it’s really fun – but it’s not comprehensive or focused on delivering content for all the confident, ambitious, and young professional women out there.

Enter NYC-based startup The Daily Muse.  In addition to a thriving career-focused content site, they are building an exclusive job and networking community and a series of training modules targeted at those critical junctures in a young professional’s life: starting a new job, making a big impression at a first job, managing someone else for the first time, or even simply going through interview and hiring process.

The Daily Muse was founded by 3 ex-McKinsey women who worked together at startup, Pretty Young Professional (PYP), another startup that was named one of Forbes’ Top Websites for Women only a few months after launch.  As you might guess, the founders are very accomplished:

Kathryn Minshew, CEO, led the strategic and implementation planning for the introduction of the HPV vaccine for the Rwandan national government.

Melissa McCreery, Editor in Chief, was Executive Editorial Editor for The Harvard Crimson.

Alexandra Cavoulacos, COO, was the Executive Director of Global21 at Yale – a network of international affairs magazines at premier universities around the world.

If you are heading to Tech Cocktail NYC Wednesday night, stop by and say hi to the team, as they are one of our showcased startups.

  1. I hope this website is still around for my daughter in a few years. She plans to take the cake baking world by storm!
