The Power Of Reciprocity In Business

If you’re active in social media, you’ve probably thought about reciprocity on one level or another. Perhaps someone has been very generous in re-tweeting your tweets. Maybe some person or company rep reached out and offered you some suggestions after they saw a complaint you posted online. Or maybe you’ve even created a legion of fans who have donated time and/or money to your cause. How does that affect you?

Tech Cocktail contributor, Zach Davis, was inspired by Robert B Cialdini’s book on the topic: Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion and created this video that delves into the notion of reciprocity. From personal decisions to your actual startup business, you may be surprised at how deeply we are affected by others actions toward us. Take a look and send it on to someone else. Then see how they reciprocate.

Having trouble seeing the video – watch it here. The great song used in the video is called Merry Man by Buddy Ross – download it here on iTunesMerry Man - Single - Buddy Ross.
