Time Inc. Announces 10 NYC Startups to Watch

As part of Internet Week New York, which is June 6-13, Time Inc. announced their 10 NYC Startups to Watch based on input from editors at People, Time, Fortune, Entertainment Weekly, Sports Illustrated, InStyle and Real Simple. We were stoked to see a few familiar names on the list:
Foodspotting was a showcased startup at our Tech Cocktail SXSW event in 2010. As a major foodie, this is probably one of my favorite startups I’ve come across. Their service allows you to find specific dishes, not just restaurants, based on your location. Great way to satisfy a craving if you’re visiting a new city.
SocialGuide, which I covered earlier this spring, helps you find programs to watch when it appears there is nothing on via the first real-time social programming guide. SocialGuide tells you what the most popular programs are based on what people are watching and discussing.
Wanderfly was a showcased startup at our Tech Cocktail NYC mixer event in November 2010. This travel site provides travel recommendations based on your interest and budget, allowing you to experience a one-of-a-kind trip.
Following this year’s SXSW, Frank Gruber wrote a post about the hottest trend at the festival, which was group texting and chat. GroupMe was on his list, and it’s on Time Inc’s. Their service provides free group messaging.
